Check
out the details for BLAST 2008 Please check out the Talent Schedule for BLAST. As you can see we have registration for those that have not registered from 8 to 9 am. At the same time we are also asking that ALL Pastors or Leaders check in by 8:30 to ensure that we have all participants and that they are attending. We experienced a lot of students registered but didn’t make sports blast and we want to make sure that this issue is covered before we get to the actual times. The opening ceremony will be at 9 so we need all to be registered and checked in before that time (we will have more people helping with that process). Make sure those that attended Sports blast are there as well to encourage those performing and so that they can receive their shirts and awards at the closing ceremony. See you this Saturday March 15th!! Scott

We look forward to seeing everyone at BLAST this Saturday March 1 at the Nutter center. Events begin at 9 am (see schedule above). Also don’t forget to get out and serve in your community Sat March 8th for service Saturday. We will need a couple of pictures or a short video along with a summary of what your group did on that Monday March 10 to include in the service at Talent Blast (e-mail sporter@bcnaz.com).
To all Pastors and Students of SWO NYI! Building Leaders and Sharing Talent (BLAST) is in the final stages of work for the year but did you know the region has a theme this year! We are to go out and serve beyond the walls of our churches (hence the picture for blast this year). We are to bust out and go make a difference in our area. Many of you were a part of NYC and how we learned to take what talents God has given us and put them to use. Here is your chance! On Saturday March 8 take your group and do a service project, work in a shelter, or food bank. Anything that your group may like to do in a way of service and make sure you take your camera for some shots or videos of that project (1-3 minute montages would be great; the region is also looking to use these). We would like for you to send us those pictures/videos and a note explaining about some of the details and experiences that your group had on Monday March 10 to Scott Porter so that it can be incorporated into the service on March 15. You will have to make sure that he has them by that date so please share the experience with all of us. Scott

We had another great year at BLAST this year. It is such a blessing to watch students use the gifts that God has given them for His glory. I truly believe we have the best students on SWO! We had 280 students who participated from 23 churches on the district. Due to Wright State having a decent basketball year, we were told with short notice that we would be unable to use their facilities for the sports portion of BLAST. So we moved it to Oak Hills High School in Cincinnati. Darin Fowler worked very hard organizing the sports portion and it was a successful day. I truly appreciate his dedication and leadership and wouldn’t have been able to do it without him. The talent portion of BLAST was held at West Chester Church of the Nazarene. Greg Palmer did an outstanding job directing the talent portion of BLAST. It wouldn’t have been a success without him and all that he did to make the day possible. I would also like to thank Pastor Bob Mahaffey and Rob Allred and their staff and volunteers for opening up their church for this event and their wonderful hospitality. Three other people that I would like to mention that helped make BLAST 2007 a success is Lori Pritts, Holli Palmer and Candice Corwin. They worked tirelessly to get all the scores tallied and awards distributed and ran the BLAST office for me. Their willingness to do this is greatly appreciated. After all of the metals are given out for each category, we give a final award away. It is the Spirit Award and probably my favorite award we give out. This is an award given to a youth group for unquestionable character and unity as a local NYI during BLAST. This year the award was presented to Amelia Church of the Nazarene. This is my third year directing BLAST and it has been a blessing to do so. However, this will also be my last year directing BLAST. The Lord has opened up other opportunities for me to serve in additional areas and so I need to step down from this position. I know that the future leadership of this event will do a wonderful job. Respectfully Submitted Aimee Pritts
