Spring
Praise Rally Hello Everyone… In being a rookie at planning a praise rally and wanting to make sure that everything is covered, the one thing I forgot about until now is seating. At our new facility, we have enough chairs for 300. We have been drawing around 400 at the last few praise rallies. So, I am in need of your help. I am asking if each of your churches could throw 5 or 10 (or more if you have room) folding chairs in your vehicles when you come on Sunday night. I hate to have to ask this of you, but it will be really helpful if you can make that happen. Please let me know if you will be able to accommodate this request, so I can know how to plan otherwise. Thanks a million!!! Scott Young,
Youth Pastor + + + + + + + + + This Sunday’s Praise Rally is being held at the Fairfield Church of the Nazarene at the River Road Campus Building (7630 East River Road, Fairfield, OH 45014-6076). Click here for a Google map link. Please don’t forget about the Food Drive. Please bring Non-Perishable food items. There will be a light snack provided after the Praise Rally. + + + + + + + + + We will be doing a food drive at the praise rally on April 20. The challenge . . . each person bring their age in non perishable food items. For example if your student is 13, the challenge is for them to bring 13 non perishable food items. The food will be distributed in the Fairfield/Hamilton area to families in need. There will be a little food provided after the praise rally as well. Please make sure you mark your calendars and plan on attending the event.
Winter
Praise Rally Join your friends from around the district at Beavercreek Church of the Nazarene on Sunday, January 27 at 6:00 PM for the District Praise Rally. A small snack will be provided. Also, Bridge Café will be serving delicious specialty coffees and hot chocolate at their espresso bar. Bridge Café is a coffee house ministry on the campus Wright State University, reaching out to college students with coffee and friendship. Be sure to bring some extra cash for a mocha! One more thing...We are continuing our focus of reaching out to those in need. We are collecting hats, gloves, scarves, blankets, socks, and coats to donate to Target Dayton, Daytonview, and the Dayton Gospel Mission. These organizations are always in need of necessary items for the city’s poor and homeless. Thank you for participating in this outreach opportunity.
Fall
Praise Rally We are going to be doing two things differently at this praise rally: 1) We are asking every person to bring non – perishable food items to be donated to the hungry. How many should each person bring? As many items as one wishes to bring. The NYI District Council, has come up with a challenge. They have challenged each person to bring as many food items as years they have been alive. (Example: a 15 year old would bring 15 food items). That is pretty simple stuff. Make a sacrifice to help feed others. 2) The second change is also asking our district teens to sacrifice, but this time it’s a free meal. In the past we have always provided some type of meal after the praise rallies. In substitute of this we are going to take the money that we would be spending on dinner and give it to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries to feed children around the world. So maybe your group could leave a little early and make a McDonalds run on the way to West Chester. After the praise rally, we will be having dessert. ANGER We’re talking about ANGER. Come to the fall praise rally prepared to ask your self “what makes me angry?”
2007 NYI Report Greetings Dr. Hanson, NYI Council Members and Convention Delegates; It has once again been a privilege to serve the teens of the Southwest Ohio District during the past church year. It has been an awesome blessing to be a part of our district family worship services each quarter. In the last twelve months Southwest Ohio NYI has hosted three Praise Rallies at local churches and one Youth Night during District Camp Meeting. August 2006 Camp Meeting October 2006 Beavercreek January 2007 Springdale April 2007 Xenia Just over 2700 teens, youth pastors, youth workers and other people who love teens attended our district worship services. Each host church/youth group gave their best in leading us in worship, not to impress others but to bless the heart of God. The Holy Spirit was present and working in people’s hearts at each one proving that it’s not about us or for us, but for Him. In our busy, busy lives let’s not forget that we worship God in everything, not just times of corporate worship, and must keep our hearts and minds fit and ready. 2Corinthians 7:1 says, “With promises like this to pull us on, dear friends, let’s make a clean break with everything that defiles or distracts us, both within and without. Let’s make out entire lives fit and holy temples for the worship of God.” (The Message) Grace and Peace to each of you! Respectfully Submitted, Greg Palmer
